Work-life balance is often a core need for many team members. Having the ability to deliver great work as well as meet personal commitments is a must for some people to stay engaged in their work, as well as stay in their jobs and with the company. Without good work-life balance, many people struggle to perform at work, and thus diminish their ability to contribute to the team. This course presents the most common work-life balance elements. Your goal is to create an average team rating for each work-life balance element. This information will be used as the foundation for the team discussion. Some teams make it a priority to create the right work-life balance for each team member. Understanding that jobs have certain demands and requirements, teams can work within these parameters to create an environment that allows everyone to meet their personal commitments, while staying energized and committed to the team’s success. By completing this course, you will be able to ensure everyone is clear on what work-life balance looks like with the team or department. Co-operative education is a three-way partnership between the university, students and employers. Students apply their classroom knowledge in a series of four-month work experiences. You, the employer, enhance a student’s education, while reaping the unique benefits of CO-OP employees.

Most work terms run at least 15 weeks, or four months. They can be no shorter than 13 weeks. Some master’s students, as well as some science and engineering students, are available for 8 or 12 months’ work terms.
All jobs are reviewed by a CO-OP Program Coordinator, and only those providing students with work experience related to their professional development are approved. Administrative activities involved in a job should be less than 10% of the entire workload.
When you first contact SSC, you are assigned one of our Program Coordinators, depending on your discipline of interest. This person is your main contact in our office. As you move through the recruitment process, you also work with a representative from CO-OP Administrative Services, who assists with job posting and interview scheduling.
